HEADLINE: HOW DIFFERENT FOODS CAN BOOST OR BUST YOUR FIRST DATE In a world where the saying "You are what you eat" holds more truth than ever, Mind-Body Wellness Expert Jaya Jaya Myra, shares her journey which took her from working as a research scientist to an expert in the world of natural wellness. Myra says she suffered from fibromyalgia when she was younger and after trying many subscribed medical options, she ultimately turned to natural options, focusing in part on food. She says this helped her realize how powerful foods can be when it comes to the mind, the body and the healing process. "Over 90% of serotonin, our happy hormone, is created in the gut based on what we eat," Myra explains. This revelation led her to delve deeper into the connection between food and mood, sparking the idea of how dietary choices can influence the outcome of a first date. "It's amazing how simple dietary changes can have a profoundly positive impact on how we show up for others," she says. With foods rich in serotonin and omega-3 fatty acids like avocados, salmon, and walnuts, Myra suggests preparing your body for a date by incorporating these mood-boosting options into your meals beforehand. But the conversation doesn't stop there. Myra emphasizes the importance of avoiding heavy, greasy foods that can leave you feeling lethargic or uncomfortable during a date. Instead, she recommends opting for lighter fare to stimulate engaging conversation and a positive mood. When it comes to enhancing chemistry and libido, Myra suggests some other types of foods. "Celery, avocado, Brazil nuts, spinach, figs, and watermelon are known to stimulate pheromone production naturally," she reveals. These foods, along with saffron and dark chocolate, can subtly elevate the atmosphere of a date without overpowering it she says. Yet, Myra also cautions against foods that could dampen the mood. Mint and licorice, while seemingly innocent, can hinder libido and connection in her opinion. Also, by minding what she calls "The B's" – broccoli and beans – you can avoid discomfort and maintain a positive vibe throughout the evening. As the date concludes, Myra suggests ending on a sweet note with dark chocolate. Not only does it contain mood-boosting compounds, but it also promotes increased blood flow – a natural energizer for both body and mind. Finally, Myra highlights the transformative power of food. "The food and Drug Administration are one – foods are just as powerful as many drugs," she explains. By embracing a strong nutritional strategy, she says you can proactively enhance your wellbeing and mood, setting the stage for a successful first date or any social interaction. In a world where connections matter more than ever, understanding the transformative power of food may help pave the way for more meaningful encounters and lasting relationships.
