Irasema Coronado
Political Scientist/Expert on Transborder Issues
Irasema Coronado is an expert on human rights, politics and environmental issues on international borders and dynamics across the globe. She is a political scientist with expertise in comparative politics and social justice issues. She is the director and professor of the School of Transborder Studies. Her recent research includes examining the impacts of the deportation process on families and children. She can speak to the impacts of the presidential race and possible implications for Latinos.
She is co-author of the book titled “Fronteras No Mas: Toward Social Justice at the U.S.-Mexico Border” and co-editor of numerous articles.
She is also a member of the academic advisory board for Ms. Magazine and served on the Department of Human Health Services, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences- National Advisory Environmental Health Sciences Council from 2016 to 2020.
Professor Coronado is also fluent in Spanish.
