Gabriel Shaibi

Dr. Gabriel Shaibi, a professor and Southwest Borderlands Scholar at ASU's Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation, researches obesity-related health in high-risk populations, focusing on preventing type 2 diabetes in children, families and communities. He employs a translational approach, bridging basic, clinical, and community research. Shaibi collaborates with Phoenix Children’s Hospital, the YMCA and St. Vincent de Paul on a family-centered program to combat diabetes in Latino families. He also works with the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) School of Medicine in Mexico on a diabetes program for low-income adults.
